Update: got around to getting the newest version.

The pokestock program from gen 3 era has gone through a good deal of updates since it was last on the radar, and it has a bunch of new features.

Inside the download package (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12206225/PokeStock2_ver2_3.zip) is a bunch of folders, and a bunch of files as well. One click download link so you don't have to navigate to the Japanese downloads with passwords.

[Bond697] it was built with visual C++ 6.0

From looking at it for awhile, it has tons of obscure filetypes. ".bi2" corresponds to a .pkm file, at least to the party PKM size.

Just felt like posting it, seems like it has a bunch of new features that can be used.

Nice catch, guys.
At a quick glance, it seems like you can edit just about anything.
Too bad he couldn't put them all into a single program.... but at least his interface doesn't suck AS much as before... (still pretty bad).

For those who want to get rid of the garbled/non-encoded text, you can use Applocale to open it in Japanese if you don't have a recent version of WIndows (Vista/7) to open it in Japanese.

The C-Gear app is a real lifesaver, since it fixed my Black City guys who i inadvertently allowed to leave.

Use the bottom button on the app's main page to access the Black City + White Forest editor.
Expired trainers appear on the right list, move them to the left list by inputting their details and using the first button ('Modify', i guess) like you would in pokesav's item list editors. To be safe, set the numeric value to it's max (100) just in case. Not sure if it's how it works legitimately, but i also erased the right list afterward (using the third button).

Well, I translated a litle bit of the lists - here are Pokemon list, their moves, abilities and list of trainers that appear in Black City/White Forest. Substitute it with files from /POKEMAIN folder. Finally something can be undarstood!
BTW the rest of files in this folder are mostly some pokemon accesories, like cushions, mats, desks, you name it.

That means "Files with extension .psk or .bmp".
.psk files seem to be a kind of compressed raw data, because editing some bytes at the beginning creates repeated patterns in the whole picture.
It works with normal .bmp files too, so you don't need to get special image files.

BTW, I'm currently translating some parts of the C-Gear Editor with the help of HxD (hex edition), Notepad++ (bytes to Shift-JIS conversion) and Google Translation, but it is very limited because of the small length of Japanese text compared to its English translation.

EDIT² : I finished translating the files for the C-Gear Editor v2.4.
I had to shorten many words in the program.
"Abl" is Ability, "Qty" Quantity, "Bck" Back, "Lft" Left, "Rgt" Right, "Frt/Frnt" Front, "Ctr" Center, "BlkCty" Black City, "WhtFrst" White Forest, "Chd" Challenged, "Satisf." Satisfaction (it increases when you challenge the trainer, I don't know the actual word for this).

I'm unsure of what the buttons on the left of the main screen are because I never actually used the C-Gear.
If someone knows about it, please tell me what is the correct translation.

Here are the files (with the fixed T_BWTown.txt).
The *.txt's go into POKEMAIN and the .exe (extract it before) into PokeCGear.

Well, I did that because when I see "Backpacker Emi", I don;t want to constantly remember which Pokemon does he have.

There are many areas in High Link Forest and apparently Pokemon may appear in different areas. Oh, and you made a mistake - on the front page it's not "Ability" (Abl), it's Attack. You cannot change the Dream World ability.

Hmm.... Now that is interesting. in the High link forest there are 7 areas



............. Bck Top...........

CTR Left........CTR.....CTR Rght

FR LEft........FRONT....Fr Rght

But there are 3 more areas in PokeCGear, called Back, Back left and back right. It seems that they wanted to make HL forest look like this:

Or maybe I'm missing something? Are there more rooms when you go into high link?

But can someone upload an "official" cgear skin,
Cause whenever I try to insert one,
It says "CGEAR SKIN DATA LOST" or something along those lines...

I agree its actually better to Insert and Edit rather individually editing slots for pokemon and Item

whats the difference of frnt trainers from back trainers in POCKETMONSTER WHITE?

I don't know what it means exactly as I never used the C-Gear.
The original Japanese text is "裏住人" for "Back Trainers" and "表住人" for "Front Trainers".

裏住人 is pronounced "Ura jūnin" and 表住人 "Omote jūnin".
I think "jūnin" is "trainer" here, and 裏 means "back, rear, reverse side, inside, undersurface" while 表 means "front, obverse, face, outside, exterior" according to Google Translate.

So it is either front/back, outside/inside or visible/hidden.

A! Of course! I think this is the other player's Black City/White Forest, when you go this place while in High Link. When you connect your game to someone's other game, that other game sends its list to the right table and you ca visit other player's place.

...at least I think that's what it's for.

AFAIK, the latest Pokestock version is 2.4 which was released in late December, and its C-Gear Editor is v1.7, not 1.4...

That's a kind of super-complete Pokesav with lots of new functionnalities (just like the C-Gear editor).
It also supports GBA games.

I'd hate to think how bad the written data is garbled from what it should be by a program with a UI THIS bad. This may just be worse than Pokesav.

Mine is corrupted too ; file names look like "âeâLâXâgé+é-é+é¡é¦Ä®ò¬é+ùpêËé¦éÛé¢ëµæ£é+Ägùpé¦éÛé¢éóò¹".
I'm using Vista with East Asian languages support (I see Japanese characters correctly).
But the programs work properly, so that's not a real problem.

The source is private, hence the translation problems.

Yeah, the program works fine, and the text displays correctly for me, it's just those text files that are all corrupted. The program is easy enough to understand, but I figured I could provide more insight into things with the readme files.

This may not be the best solution, but anyway:

- Open the *.txt file with Mozilla Firefox;
- Go to View -> Character Encoding -> Japanese (Shift_JIS)

You will now have the text displayed correctly.

Online converter; upload the file and convert it from Shift_JIS to UTF-8.

my point in saying this was that it's annoying to plug in a translation because none of the normal tools work, not that VC++ is bad. :)

in the images it only recognizes each pokemon for an icon (an image of pokemon ..... this is what I want to say) that mine pokestock does not make this ..... pokemons is identified only by its names.someone that it uses this program knows as is that makes this program to recognize pokemons for the images?

Probably have to run it in AppLocale. I haven't tried to get the poke icons to appear in the box editor.

The program itself doesn't come with the images, you'll have to get these on your own. Each image has to be in .jpg format and has to be 90x73 hmm lets see what else am i forgetting... oh yeah and the naming sequence you have to use is: p<dex #=""><gender><shiny>[Dex Nr][Gender][shiny].jpg
So for example:
A Female Bulbasaur, the file would have to be named "p001f.jpg" | A Male Bulbasaur would be "p001m.jpg"
A shiny female Bulbasaur would be "p001fs.jpg" | A shiny Male Bulbasaur would be "p001ms.jpg"

Someone should be kind enough to make these for those who use this tool, or i'll do it myself later on after i finish translating some more. Anyways now you know how :)

P.S.
Haven't figured out the special cases with pokemon with different forms quite yet but it should follow a similar format. Ex. Unowns would be p201[Letter][Shiny].jpg

That's because their sprites are not programmed in the game, it's not an error on the software's side.

I will keep an eye on this program for English updates. The Black City editor is my main concern. It would save a lot of effort.

It would also be GREAT if there was a Action Replay code for the Black City/White Forest!!

Hmm I am not sure if it is my emulator or Pokestock.

I managed to put Pokemon into the Entralink Forest successfully but their sprites are invisible so I have to grope around like a blind man until I hit something.., and press A to make the Pokemon come out.

In the used figures in pokestock that they are in the folder pic, that name I must give to the forms of castform and arceus? in the archive placed for download they are lacking. also I have problem with spinda in pokebox2 it copies the sprite of the Pokémon that this before it in the Box, as decides this?

Anyone have any luck with the PoketrainerS yet in V2.4? Whenever i finish editing my save file changes from 512kb to 562kb and becomes unreadible with my rom :S However, pokesav and pokegen seem to be able to read it still.

I mainly wanted to edit my 1st game clear to change my Reshriam to Zekrom and this function isn't in any previous version.

Front trainers are the ones currently in your city/forest. Back...I dunno yet. Prbably previous ones or ones that will arrive if ones u have now leave?

How does using this affect the game itself? If someone goes to the VGC with a game that someone edited to have, say, the "five star" card, can Nintendo notice? I'm just curious to see how these things work.
