PKM Files

PKM files store data for one Pokémon each. They can be used for sharing Pokémon without giving away an entire save file.

To save a Pokémon as a PKM file, click the save button next to its name or the save box button if saving an entire box. The same goes for loading a PKM file.

The PKM files list has a list of PKM files for many legit Pokémon, as well as data for rare event Pokémon. If you're looking for legit Pokémon without having to create them from scratch (which can result in accidental errors), I suggest downloading the Pokémon from the database, loading them into Pokésav, and making any necessary changes from there.

Sabresite's Legality Checker is a command line tool for checking if a Pokémon is legitimate. Likewise, the Pika Anti Cheat program allows you to upload a PKM file and check its validity. These programs are especially adept at catching fake shinies, event Pokémon, and wild Pokémon, but they will not catch everything (such as hatched Pokémon).

Many PKM files (those that are 136 bytes long) cannot be loaded into a party. They must be loaded into a box. 236-byte PKM files, however, can be loaded into the party.
