Pokémon’s upcoming release of the remakes to the Gold and Silver Versions, HeartGold & SoulSilver, were reviewed by a popular Japanese magazine, Famitsu, in its recent issue. The game received very good scores, receiving three 9s and a perfect 10 for a total of 37/40.
"I got addicted to the collecting, raising, and battle aspect," one reviewer wrote. "It reminded me of how well-made a game [the original] Gold/Silver was at its core. Being as universally known as it is, there are few surprises here, but the game is so exquisitely balanced that getting addicted is a natural process."
The game is still set for a September 12th release in Japan and an early spring release in North America.

There was a new commercial about shown Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver on the Japanese My Nintendo Channel on the Wii.
Here is a description of what the new commercial showed. Thanks to Guested for reporting this and providing the description:
There is a section talking about wi-fi, and it shows shots of the Wi-Fi Plaza and the Wi-Fi Club which are designed like the ones in Pokémon Platinum.
In the Wi-Fi Club:
The player checks the screen, and is asked "What kind of opponent would you like to recruit?" with the choices: Single Battle, Double Battle, Trade, Plaza Game. There is also another character standing by in a circle on the ground, similar to the GTS during search.
The trailer also showed some areas that haven’t been shown before (routes, etc), Lugia on a PokeWalker, Lugia battling Ho-oh in a battle, the establishing (entrance) image of the Tin Tower (it has some Ho-oh statues inside), a trainer catching a Munchlax on the PokeWalker, the girl character walking towards Suicune who is standing on a route somewhere, some new gym stuff, and Jasmine’s battle sprite.
It also showed Entei headbutting a tree.
Thanks for reading and don’t forget to comment on what you think of the new details.

In typical CoroCoro leak fashion, clearer scans of the CoroCoro scans from yesterday have been uploaded. Here are some of the most important details that were revealed by the new scans: - Three new Pokéthlon games have also been revealed: Break Block, which involves breaking bricks, Change Relay, a racing game, and Push Circle, which involves pushing Pokemon out of a ring.
- A type of map editor for the Safari Zone will allow players to customize and share maps for the Safari Zone.
- Apricorns can be mixed into supplements for Pokémon to boost Pokéthlon stats using a new item called the Apricorn Shaker.
- Finally, the scans also confirm the availability of Groudon (SoulSilver only) and Kyogre (HeartGold only) at level 50, and that Rayquaza will appear once both are traded on to one game.

By: Fenzo666 - August 8th, 2009
Here are the new scans from CoroCoro released earlier today revealing a significant amount of new information regarding Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver: - The first two images show the Apricons and their Pokeballs. The apricorns appear to be kept in a key item container, so this would eliminate the problems with compatibility with DPP since a Pokemon can`t hold key items. This allows the player to grow Apricorns while travelling. (Pokeballs shown: Friend Ball, Heavy Ball, LoveLove Ball, Speed Ball, Level Ball, Moon Ball, and Lure Ball)
- This 3rd image shows the magnet train and SS Anne dockhouse along with Johto Region`s Battle Frontier. The entrance looks like it is in the same place as Crystal`s Battle Tower, which is on route 40.
- The 4th image shows a Wi-Fi double battle with Dialga and Palkia, a 2010 WCS announcement and an encounter with Rayquaza.
- In the 5th image we see the player receiving the Mysterious Egg from Mr. Pokemon.
- The 6th image shows an encounter with a wild Raikou.
- The 7th image simply shows Rayquaza hindering in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
- In the 8th image we see the player receiving the Pokedex from Prof. Oak. Bug Catching Contest.
- The last image shows the entrance to the new Safari Zone, accessed by Cianwood City.

Oha Suta, a Japanese TV show, has revealed more details on the HeartGold and SoulSilver in-game events triggered by the upcoming Pikachu-Colored Pichu and the Cinema Arceus. You can watch the episode on YouTube courtesy of Filb.de here. Although there have already been several stills of the interaction between Pikachu-Colored and Jagged-Ear Pichu, the video depicts the entire thing in action. Of note is the redesigned battle interface and new music, as well as the fact that the Jagged-Ear Pichu joins your party. It is female and knows the moves Helping Hand, Volt Tackle, Swagger, and Pain Split. The Arceus event will be triggered when the cinema Arceus is traded to HeartGold or SoulSilver and brought to the Ruins of Alph. From there, a new area is unlocked at an as-of-yet unknown location. Cynthia will be there when you arrive, and your arceus will apparently allow you to select from Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina, creating the selected pokemon at level one and placing it in your party. The Japanese Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver website has just opened. Although it doesn`t reveal much information beyond what the CoroCoro scans revealed, higher quality versions of the screenshots and maps in CoroCoro were posted, confirming the existence of a large new area in western Johto (perhaps related to PokéWalker courses?), as well as a large building west of Goldenrod and an area west of the bug catching park. Additionally, it has been revealed that trading the Jirachi event over to HeartGold and SoulSilver will unlock a PokéWalker course called "Edge of the Night Sky."
It looks like the site will be periodically updated with the latest news. We`ll bring you more updates as they come. Official HeartGold and SoulSilver Website (Japanese) ► Comments

Thanks to CoroCoro, HeartGold and SoulSilver news has just been pouring in the past few days! These higher resolution CoroCoro scans have recently popped up on 2ch. The scans are from the same issue of the magazine as the old, blurrier scans, but are much more detailed and reveal some new information.
First off, more information about the event Jirachi has been released. It will be holding a Leichi Berry and know the moves Wish, Confusion, Rest, and Draco Meteor (a move exclusive to this event).
The new scans have confirmed (or at least strongly imply) that Kanto will be playable in HeartGold and SoulSilver, due to maps of Kanto being included in the scans. Not that this was a surprise, anyway.
The ability of your starter to follow your character was revealed in the surprise Pokémon Sunday reveal. CoroCoro reveals that it will be possible for any species of Pokémon to follow the character - be it a starter, its evolutions, a caught wild Pokémon, or a legendary. The Pokémon can also be spoken to display its current mood.
Pre-order gifts for both HeartGold and SoulSilver have been confirmed to include Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Arceus figures. While you can only receive Ho-Oh if you only pre-order HeartGold and Lugia if you pre-order SoulSilver, you can get both as well as Arceus if you pre-order them both together. Let`s hope Nintendo will distribute these figurines in other regions, too!
In addition, the interface for the Pokédex, bag, and other in-game menus have been completely redesigned from previous Generation IV games.

New scans of the next issue of CoroCoro have recently surfaced on a Japanese forum. They reveal a great deal of new information about HeartGold and SoulSilver.
The scans have revealed the box art for both games as well as the packaging. The Japanese version of the game will be packaged in paper (although standard plastic DS case could also be included inside). Like Gold and Silver, the box arts feature Ho-Oh and Lugia. Because the PokéWalker device is bundled with the game, the box is thicker and heavier than a normal DS game. Another scan reveals that it will be possible to catch either Groudon or Kyogre after the Elite Four is defeated. Kyogre will only appear in HeartGold and Groudon will be exclusive to SoulSilver. From the scan, it appears as though Rayquaza will appear once the player has both Kyogre and Groudon (through trading with the opposite version). The magazine also hints at an Arceus event in the game, and confirms the return of Cynthia as a character. Little is currently known about this event, however, and it is still unknown whether this will be in the game by default or triggered by Mystery Gift. Although it doesn`t show anything particularly new, new screenshots, art for a female Rocket grunt, Professor Elm, as well as the player`s rival were also revealed. With all this new content, this game just keeps sounding better and better. Stay tuned for more news! ► Comments

According to a flier scanned and posted on the 2ch forums today, a Jirachi will be distributed from June 19th to July 17th via Mystery Gift at participating McDonald`s locations across Japan. Whether this Jirachi will unlock any special event or location in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver is still unconfirmed, but it is recommended that the Jirachi be transferred to the new games.
The flier states that Pokémon players can also download Pokémon toys from the recently announced WiiWare title "Melee! Pokémon Scramble!" at McDonald`s. Once all the toys are collected, players can redeem McDonald`s coupons. Thanks for reading and sorry for the slow news updates the past few days! ► Comments

Today on Pokémon Sunday, more news regarding Heart Gold and Soul Silver was revealed. The episode revealed information regarding an external device known as "PokéWalker". This peripheral will be able to connect with Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, allowing you to transfer Pokémon from your game to "PokéWalker".
The device will act like a pedometer and the Pokémon loaded on it will accumulate experience points and happiness. You can only deposit one Pokémon in "PokéWalker" at a time and you can raise it up to level 100 without it ever appearing in even one battle. In addition, there will be a slew of mini games available on the peripheral. One mini game shows Pikachu battling a Sentret while in another, called "Item Finder", you search for items in the grass. There is no information as to whether or not the items you find can be sent back to the game. Thanks for reading! Much thanks to Guested for helping with the translations. The Pokémon Platinum Korean Version release date has been revealed today along with the Regigigas event mentioned in this article. The release date is July 2nd 2009 and the price will be 39,000원 (KRW) which is equivalent to approximately $31 USD.
As usual, it is assumed that interaction between the Korean version of Pokémon Platinum and other non-Korean versions will be extremely limited or virtually non-existent. This is due to the fact that the games from other countries do not support the Korean font table. Korean characters appear as blank spaces in Diamond and Pearl and question marks in Pokémon Platinum. A few hours ago Pokémon Sunday aired in Japan and stated that the next episode, which will air next Sunday (May 10th), will reveal a brand new Pokémon game. Many Pokémon enthusiasts are speculating that it will be the release of a highly anticipated Gold and Silver remake.
There are several factors indicating that this could be the remake we have all been waiting for. First, the new Pokémon Movie 12, set to hit theatres in Japan this summer, features all the starter Pokémon of the second generation. Second, this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the 1999 release of Pokémon Gold and Silver in Japan. Furthermore, after the third generation games were released for the GBA, remakes for Pokémon Red and Green were released. Assuming Nintendo wants to stay consistent, it would make sense that they release a remake of the second generation games after having released the fourth generation Pokémon versions. The final indication that this could be a potential remake announcement is the screenshot presented to the right. That picture is a preview for the next week`s Pokémon Sunday episode. There are two balls hanging off the ceiling of the room. One is slightly silver colored while the other is gold which could potentially represent Pokémon Gold and Silver.
In conclusion, it would be a big disappointment for the Pokémon community if a GS remake or fifth generation Pokémon game isn`t announced. Other possible announcements could include Pokémon Battle Revolution 2, Pokémon Ranger 3 or even a new spin-off game. Although there is much evidence which leads us to believe that this could indeed be the remake we are waiting for, we will just have to watch next week`s episode of Pokémon Sunday to know what game it will be.
